AeroGRID Supply Imaery of 11 Polish Cities to PTK

Paris, 09 March 2009 - AeroGRID has supplied pkt.pl Polskie Ksi±¿ki Telefoniczne Sp. z o.o., Poland’s leading provider of online and offline business information with highly detailed aerial imagery of 11 major Polish cities: Warsaw, Poznan, Lodz, Krakow, Wroclaw, Katowice, Bydgoczsz, Szcezcin and Gdansk, Gydnia, Sopot. The imagery is already accessible on pkt.pl’s mapping portal.

Because AeroGRID is a consortium of different data providers it was able to efficiently assist PKT by making the most of its extensive resources. For this project AeroGRID partner MGGP provided imagery for some of the cities required by PKT and DigitalGlobe contributed high resolution Quickbird satellite imagery for Warsaw. Other cities were specially flown and processed by AeroGrid. AeroGRID will acquire new imagery of Warsaw during the 2009 flying season.

AeroGRID partners operate 10 different survey aircraft and high-resolution digital cameras. Partners sell AeroGRID data within their own markets but all imagery is made available for purchase online. AeroGRID partners contribute aerial imagery data, and coordinate flying resources to their mutual benefit. New partners are welcome to join in order to extend coverage both in and beyond Europe to build the world’s largest commercial aerial imagery dataset.

“This is a great example of what can be achieved by AeroGRID,” said Miles Taylor, General Manager. “We needed to supply up to date high resolution aerial imagery of eleven Polish cities for PKT. This was achieved in just three months through a combination of existing partner data and a new flying program to acquire data for four of the cities. This admirably demonstrates the power of the combined resources of the AeroGRID consortium,” continued Taylor.

“PKT are very excited to be able to offer the newest and most detailed aerial imagery available in the Polish market. This supports PKTs role as the leading local search innovator. Strategically we’ve decided to focus on the 11 biggest cities since these are key points of PKT’s business. The quality of the data is impressive and we’re looking forward to continuing this co-operation. PKT have been impressed by AeroGRIDs ability to meet the demanding schedules required to meet our online goals”, said Ewa Kasiak, Head of Online for PKT.
