Adobe Geospatial eSeminar July 22

Create and distribute geospatial data in compact, layered, readily accessible PDF files - Adobe Acrobat eSeminar with presenter Farallon Geographics

Adobe's Acrobat User Community will be presenting a free webinar July 22 at 10am Pacific on using the new geospatially-aware Acrobat 9 to communicate geospatial information and provide mapping capabilities to field workers and other users.9 to communicate geospatial information and provide mapping capabilities to field workers and other users.

Geospatial and mapping data is critical to decision making, asset management, and resource allocation at all levels of business and government. However traditional GIS tools are too expensive, too technical and too time-consuming for use by field staff and non-GIS users.

Acrobat 9 provides a platform- and application-independent solution to this problem. With simple to use tools for creating geospatial PDF
documents from professional GIS software, and extremely simple and intuitive workflows using Acrobat 9 for analysis and markup in the field, it is now possible to reliably communicate geospatial information and mapping capabilities to anyone, regardless of their GIS expertise.

Join Tomas Lopes from Farallon Geographics as he demonstrates how easy it is for GIS professionals to share geospatial information and facilitate data maintenance workflows with individuals in the field by combining Acrobat 9 with professional desktop GIS software.

Overview: Free 60-min Acrobat 9 Geospatial eSeminar with live Q&A
Date: Wednesday, July 22, 2009
Time: 10-11am US Pacific (1-2 pm US Eastern)
Free Registration - see link below.

What you will learn:

• How GIS professionals can create full-featured map layouts with
attributes, labels and layers in ESRI's ArcMap and use TerraGo Publisher to export them to a geo-registered, portable PDF.

• Ways to use these PDF maps in the field, including querying the spatial data (e.g. find coordinates of a location or accurately
measure distance, perimeter and area) and creating spatially intelligent markup using the tools in Acrobat 9.

• How GIS staff in the office can roll field markups within a PDF map back into the enterprise quickly and efficiently.
Combining traditional GIS software with Acrobat 9 is proving to be a fast and cost-effective way to create content that is easy to use in the field and easy to maintain in the office.

Who should attend?

GIS professionals and Non-GIS users who make use of mapping information

For Federal, State & Local Governments: Share geospatial and mapping data within and across agencies to users who may not be familiar with the use of GIS applications and may or may not have immediate access to the Internet. This includes public works, street maintenance, public planning, property assessment, emergency
response, voter registration, construction, etc.

For Utilities: Provide field workers with up-to-date details on infrastructure, outages and current conditions for faster response
times and more efficient management and maintenance of infrastructure.

For Business: Provide non-GIS users with location information for routing & logistics of inventory, commercial real estate feasibility & planning, sales territories and demographics, etc.
