Sharpening Skills to Improve Innovation - AUGI Design Academy Aims to Hone Competitive Edge Helping to address today’s tough geospatial market challenges

Following on from last year’s highly successful inaugural event, Autodesk User Group International (AUGI) is holding its second AUGI Design Academy. This two-day training and networking conference for users of Autodesk 2D and 3D design software will take place at the Novotel London West, London from 25 to 26 September 2008. The event is designed to help Autodesk users maximise their investment in the technology, discuss best practices and provide opportunities to learn from experts and others in their industry.

The intensive programme also features renowned global and local industry speakers such as Lynne Allen, US CAD columnist and a worldwide Autodesk technical evangelist, known for her extremely constructive and entertaining talks.

One of the major highlights will be advice on bridging the CAD/GIS divide – a topic causing much discussion and excitement in the industry. The session will look at how AutoCAD Map 3D software, the leading engineering geographic information system platform for creating and managing spatial data, bridges CAD and GIS by providing direct access to data. Other sessions include managing OS MasterMap within Map 3D and easy 3D visualisation in Map 3D.

Alongside the geospatial industry sessions is a packed schedule of more general courses such as the “Hidden Secrets of AutoCAD Productivity” and “The CAD Manager’s Action Plan”. In all the programme includes more than 50 classes aimed at all levels of proficiency.
