4th International Conference

ImageSat International N.V. company — the owner and the operator of EROS A/B satellites — became the golden sponsor of the 4th International Conference "Earth from Space — the Most Effective Solutions" that is organized once in two years by the ScanEx Research and Development Center and NGO Transparent World. This year the conference will take place on December 1-3 in the Moscow Region “Vatutinki” recreation center of the Russian President Administration.

ScanEx R&D Center, celebrating its 20th anniversary, and ImageSat Company have been successfully cooperating for many years already to streamline access to EROS A/B images in Russian and CIS countries. In 2009, EROS series satellites have replenished the ScanEx’s archives with new data on the territory of large cities in Russia and CIS, as well as enabled to implement a number of projects:

— harp seals whelping areas protection at White Sea together with International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW),

— flooding monitoring on Russian rivers on behalf of the Russian Ministry of Emergencies (Emercom) and RosHydroMet (Russian Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring),

— illegal construction activities detection (on behalf of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of Irkutsk),

— industrial wastes landfill monitoring near Kansk (Krasnoyarsk Territory) on behalf of the Russian Emercom,

— control over ecological situation in the disaster area in the middle reach of Volga River,

— illegal logging monitoring on the Russian territory. Project started in 2005 on behalf of the Russian Federal Forestry Agency.

These projects are managed thanks to direct reception of EROS A/B images in near real-time mode to the network of ground receiving stations of ScanEx company, thus providing fast execution of orders and affordable prices of end-products, — says ScanEx’s Key Account Management Department Head Anna Golovina. "It’s a pleasure to note that the RS Operators’ interest to the Conference “Earth from Space — the Most Effective Solutions” keep growing with every new year. This year ImageSat will be the sponsor of this event for the third time."

"Thanks to its ground receiving stations, ScanEx company has rights to data reception from EROS A/B satellites covering Russian and CIS territories with an exclusive rights to distribute the data in the Russian market," said Director Business Development & Customer Support of ImageSat, Rani Hellerman. "This enables to quickly meet the increasing demands for the very high resolution data of the dynamically developing Russian market of geospatial information from space."

Everyone may take part in the 4th International Conference "Earht from Space – the Most Effective Solutions". Registration is already ongoing.

A wide range of topics will be highlighted at the conference: space information technology for region management, operational satellite-based monitoring during emergencies and forest management, monitoring of transportation infrastructure, local and foreign RS programs, Internet and Earth remote sensing, educaiton for sustainable developmement, technology innovations and data processing tools, nature protection, etc.
