3D Virtual Islands - abstracts by 15 June

The workshop

The 3D-world is depicted in various geo-platforms like on Google Earth™, Microsoft Virtual Earth™ and ESRI ArcGlobe™. It is expected that by 2015, numerous cities, countries-landscapes, and our world in general will offer 3D models for multiple purposes; The "Islands" have a unique position in the 3D virtual world. The 3D-Islands workshop promotes & addresses the state of art in webGIS technologies & virtual geographics for the production of 3D models tailored to the endeavours of the islands. Such endeavours can be for example tourism, real estate, administration, businesses exposure, and policy. Workshop key-note speakers will introduce attendees in European Commission funded projects, island-applicable SDI/GIS technologies, photography technologies for street & scenic views to be engaged, POIs collection & compilation technologies, DTM/DEM & production of 3D flying-over island models, databases & INSPIRE standardization technologies, pilot projects & real life commercial business oriented projects, policy issues, economics & sustainability of projects, and demonstration show-cases from the Mediterranean islands of Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Malta and Spain.

Registration

Participants have the option to register only for the 3D Island Workshop (EUR160) or to obtain the full conference package incl. the workshop, access to AGIT & GI_Forum symposia, the AGIT EXPO and all social events (EUR240).

Poster & Abstract Submission: June 15, 2009

Submission in English language according to the formatting guidelines published on the conference website. Deadline for submission of extended abstracts for presentations and posters is: June 15, 2009, to medisolae@epsilon.gr.
