3D Laser Mapping appoints Australian Distributor

Nottingham, UK, 23 October, 2007 – 3D Laser Mapping, the UK based laser scanning specialist, has signed an exclusive agreement with Australia’s largest distributor of surveying equipment. The distributor agreement with C. R. Kennedy & Company Pty. Ltd., is the latest in a bid to boost international sales
and market penetration and covers the sale, support and marketing of 3D Laser Mapping’s internationally renowned SiteMonitor solution. SiteMonitor is 3D Laser Mapping’s state of the art laser measurement system that integrates best of breed laser scanning hardware with easy to use software to automatically capture and analyse complex slope measurements and profiles.

Dr Graham Hunter, Managing Director of 3D Laser Mapping commented on the agreement “This is an important step for 3D Laser Mapping and builds on a successful business model we have implemented in other areas of the world.” He
continued “C. R. Kennedy is an obvious partner for us in this region as they are market leaders with an extensive and complimentary product portfolio, for example Riegl laser scanners, range finders and peripheral positioning systems.”

“C. R. Kennedy has the expertise, the marketing force, the experience and the advertising power to build brands, such as 3D Laser Mapping’s SiteMonitor, dramatically in Australian market,” said Mr Malcolm Kennedy, Chairman,
Managing Director and son of the company’s founder Clement Robertson Kennedy. He continued, “As with any line handled by C. R. Kennedy, SiteMonitor will receive sales, representation and service second to none.”

C. R. Kennedy & Company Pty. Ltd is Australia’s largest distributor of photographic, surveying surveillance, medial and digital audio equipment. With offices in all major Australian capital cities and Auckland, New Zealand, it is
estimated that 1 in every 2 dollars spent on surveying, engineering and construction equipment in Australia is spent with C. R. Kennedy.

3D Laser Mapping is a specialist in laser scanning solutions, the Riegl Premier Distributor for the UK, Ireland and sub-Saharan Africa and the leading distributor of TerraScan software. 3D Laser Mapping integrates laser scanner hardware systems with their own software and peripherals to create robust
solutions for sectors such as mapping, mining and manufacturing.

This Month's Burning Issue...
Each month we select a hot topic and a leading figure in the industry to write about it.
This month's burning issue:

What message are we sending to senior level decision makers about the importance and value of Spatial Data Infrastructure - SDI - if we keep misrepresenting what SDI is or is all about?

In previous editorials in this magazine I have touched on various SDI issues, especially now that the pan-European SDI has achieved a legally mandated status within the European Union's 27 Member States. Yet I fear that the Geographic Information community - or communities, for there are many - continue to… More…
