Thursday 1st May features three more keynote speakers on the main stage; Allan Rasmussen from Tele Atlas, Ted Beardsall CBE, Deputy Chief Executive of Land Registry of England and Wales and Tyler Mitchell, Executive Director, Open Source Geospatial Foundation; the rest of the day splits into four sector-based tracks: Public Sector, Utilities, 3D and Convergence, and National Mapping Agencies and Data Suppliers. These tracks will feature sector-specific presentations by speakers working within these areas.

Speakers featured in the sector tracks include:

There will also be a Data Quality Health Check Lab, hosted by Salford GIS, which will give attendees the chance to have their own sample spatial data put through a series of standard tests to assess its overall quality. Delegates will be shown how to run tests themselves and will receive a confidential report detailing the results.

Other presentations at the Conference agenda include a seminar focusing on security and access issues surrounding Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDIs), a presentation by 1Spatial’s Seb Lessware, Chair of the Open Geospatial Consortium’s Data Quality Working Group, and a seminar introducing the storage of spatial data in Oracle Spatial. This Month's Burning Issue...
Each month we select a hot topic and a leading figure in the industry to write about it.
This month's burning issue:

What message are we sending to senior level decision makers about the importance and value of Spatial Data Infrastructure - SDI - if we keep misrepresenting what SDI is or is all about?

In previous editorials in this magazine I have touched on various SDI issues, especially now that the pan-European SDI has achieved a legally mandated status within the European Union's 27 Member States. Yet I fear that the Geographic Information community - or communities, for there are many - continue to… More…
