10th International Symposium on High Mountain Remote Sensing Cartography
The subject of High Mountain Remote Sensing Cartography is not new to the Himalayan region. In 1992 when the second symposium on High Mountain Remote Sensing Cartography (HMRSC II) was held in Beijing and Lhasa, the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) hosted the oral presentation in Kathmandu. But this will be the first time HMRSC will be held in the southern part of the Himalayas in Nepal. Read more at

International Seminar on State and Public Land Management in Verona
The seminar is organised by FIG Commission 7 (Cadastre & Land Management) and the Consiglio Nazionale Geometri (CNG), in co-operation with FIG Commission 9 (Valuation & Management of Real Estate) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations’ (FAO) Land Tenure and Management Unit. The major goal of the seminar is to share experience and discuss policy options and practices in relation to state and public sector land management, including between land managers, policy advisers and decision makers and their professional advisers, and the civil society organisations working in these areas. The seminar will help raise global awareness of problems associated with state/public land and its management, improve knowledge of good practices in this area, and encourage these to be increasingly addressed in new development initiatives.

Commission 7 Annual Meeting and International Workshop on “Land Administration – Impact of Big Construction Works on Territory”.
Registration by 7 July Commission 7 deals with land administration ('the process of determining, recording, and disseminating information about the ownership, value and use of land when implementing land management policies', ref. UNECE Land Administration Guidelines 1996). 'Ownership' should be seen as a broad concept of land tenure within various jurisdictions (statutory, customary, informal etc.). 'Land' includes constructions at subsurface level, ground level and above land level (e.g. buildings). Furthermore Commission 7 deals with land management, that is the implementation of land policy, by a wide range of land policy instruments (e.g. land reform, land consolidation, land markets, land taxation, marine resource management etc.).
