EuNavTec, 1th International Specialist Trade Fair for Satelite Navigation
Federal minister Wolfgang Tiefensee will open the internationally trade fair, which focuses purely on satellite navigation technologies. “I have campaigned to ensure this important future market gets a European platform in the new federal states, thus promoting the development of the innovative field of satellite navigation in the new states,” Tiefensee states.
Identifying new markets early on and taking advantage of them: The European satellite navigation system, Galileo, is coming – and it offers great chances for producers and service providers! The area of application is booming across Europe; according to studies by renowned consulting companies (e.g. PWC), around 200,000 new jobs are set to be created in this area by 2012. GIS in Emergency Planning, Driving efficiency and improving emergency response
Effective GIS can turn data into information that has the potential to save lives and property in an emergency. It is also driving huge operational efficiencies for many organisations. Realising the benefits of GIS requires a clear view of its capabilities, an understanding of best practice in managing and sharing data, as well as an understanding of what data is available through partner agencies and how to make best use of it.
This conference will showcase some of the best examples of GI data sources that are available to local authorities and emergency services and feature best practice case studies in how to use and manage this data.
GIS has a significant role to play in delivering an effective response to an emergency. This one day event aims to help you learn from the best practice of other public authorities:
How to use GIS to help plan emergency response
Finding and sharing GI data from a variety of sources
Maintaing large amounts of GI data
Assembling and distributing GI data to partner agencies during an emergency
Understanding what the Pitt review will mean for GIS practitioners
This conference brings together GIS experts from across the public sector who will share their practical experience and knowledge. They will cover the context and significance of GIS in relation to data and information sharing, evidence-based practice and its applications in Integrated Emergency Management.
Early bird discount applies until 19 September.
